I found a journal entry from when I was a teen(yeah, I journaled pretty much my whole life)about how much my dad didn't want to do something but did it anyway for me & my best friend, Audrey. So I brought it up with him~20 years later.

He said: But what I wanted was you...you as my daughter, most of the time(& he laughed) so the other stuff fell away.

I bet your mom felt that way too.

Poor thing - I hear a curved spine is quite painful. Speaking as a mom (who took kids to concerts like "Suicidal Tendencies" . . . )I'm sure she loved doing something for you even if it wasn't her cup of tea.

Ooooh, the first time I saw the remake on TV, I HATED the ending, when Donald Sutherland started shreiking at that poor woman! I've seen all 4 versions, and the Gabrielle Anwar version (my fave), as well as the Nicole Kidman version aren't too bad (even if Kidman's isn't all that spooky).
And now you got me thinking of the scoliosis tests in gym class...Really relieved that I passed those!

This is a wonderful story and so beautifully illustrated...the x-ray, reading on the bus. Ending with you & your Mom in the dark drive-in. A beautiful story about growing up loved. -Cin

You're mom was happy to be able to do something with you even if she hated the thing itself... she loved that she did it with YOU.
And what a CLASSIC movie...

We often wish we could have said more, but I know our actions speak volumes.
