You keep reminding me that within the nightmare that was childhood, there were these moments of wonder. Thanks. -Cin

Same by my grandparents house--we'd pretend they were foreign bombers and we had to hide under the trees!
(Isn't it weird that back in the day-early to mid 80's- kids could actually STAY OUT at night unattended?! Course this was in a small town, but still...the world has changed...)

Perfect. You should do a book of your "autobiographical" stuff. I think it would sell.

I bet you liked to go to your aunt and uncle's house.

Great story! I was petrified of vampires for so many years when I was younger . . . I would have been wearing garlic and carrying a wooden stake if I thought there were vampires.

Your memories and stories are so cool. I also lived next to an airport in Dallas- Lovefield, but what was the love all about, those planes shook our house...

Skimming down, I saw one comment that encouraged you to make a book of your art work...

...when I was a kid, the searchlights for airplanes always had either a 'watch the skies for the alien invasion' or 'look out, it's London and her comes the Luftwaffe'!! Esepecially during the height of the Cold War and the stink in Michigan about the DEW line in Marquette or somewhere in the UP...

... hell, I STILL think of the blitz when I see the spotlight slowly panning the midnight skies...
