The original movie made in 1945 with Joan Crawford is a classic, but the new HBO miniseries is pretty nifty as well.

P.S. for some unapologetic Joan adoration, check out this guy's awesome blog.

Clothed her insecurity in attack mode.
My mother loved that movie.

Love the drawing!
I haven't seen that one but just put it on my 'Flix queue. When I was living in MN in the 80s, I remember there was a theater that played Mommy Dearest and people came to play just like they did at Rocky Horror. There were a lot of waving wire hangers and sweeping the aisles. -Cin

Oh my gosh, Toon, you sweetheart! Thank you so much!
I'm still gnashing my teeth that I haven't been able to see the remake--but I will as soon as possible!'Thanks again--this made my day!

I can see from your drawing why Joan Crawford hated wire hangers. Clearly her clothes were so stiff she could just stand them up in a corner. :D

Never saw Mildred Pierce. I'm more into Bette Davis.
