I love the visual of a 10-year-old boy laying the in dark with headphones scaring the bejeezus out of himself on purpose!

I had a similar album. Lots of cool sounds on one side and one long boring scary thing on the other. I wasn't allowed anywhere but the basement with it. It was like a banishment to me.

I wonder if this was the album that my Mom used to scare the fear of the dark out of me when I was around 9 or 10...

I wonder how many images that album conjured for you that has made its way into your work..? Such a cool memory..!

Agreeing with Vickie. That is my favorite part of this toon. The image of Boy-Toon shivering under the oversized headphones and loving it.
Hey, I still have a couple of those CDs. -Cin

Nothing better than vinyl and scary noises :o)

I used to have a 45 that had sounds from the Haunted Mansion at Walt Disney World.

I loved those albums!

Are there Killer Kiwi lurking? I did not have internet most of the time here in Korea, sucks when I can't get my fix of net...

I liked this one so much! The only difference between our experiences was that one of my brothers had the "scary sounds" Lp, and that when I listened to music with the earphones, I had to sit on the stairs (with all the animals, siblings and their friemds running up and down, and stepping over me)!
Great times!
(sigh: I was--and remain--such a dork)
