Interesting to see what you wore back then. Bet you loved that watch. About the Big Red soda in my blog, it isn't something we drink all time. Something we crave once or twice a year on a really hot day in south Texas. lol
i remember wearing shortish athletic shorts that always had a white pinstripe on the seams (like soccer shorts) and t-shirts. i didn't shave my legs yet and pulled my white and colored stripe socks all the way up to my knees. i also remember tucking a comb in my sock so i could try to feather my hair and putting my money in my shoe (pf flyers that i colored in with an ink pen to make them look cooler).
Toon, I STILL have (and wear) that shirt. The 3/4 sleeves are red but it serves the same purpose as yours did--what the heck, it is pretty flattering! (also, none of my attempts to mask my smoking worked, EVER--they still don't)! Rob
this is pretty much how my brother dressed {except no nikes}. he too threw a fit when mom got him the wrong jeans {wranglers}~~i think she pointed out that he should be buying his own if he was that picky. raglan 3/4 shirts {esp white with green sleeves} that had the caped dude with an extended middle finger, the caption read: this bud's for you. and Heineken logo and skoal chewing tobacco...
I love this entry so much. Your memory walks always let me remember the good--or at least neutral--things of the past. And I still love straight leg jeans and they are so freaking hard to find right now. -Cin
Those Velamints were horrible & I do not believe they masked the cig aroma, just made it smell like menthol cigs. This brought back a lot of weird, & also a few lovely, memories for me.
I was all into Lightning Bolt, Ocean Pacific, Pier Connection, and Quicksilver back then. Oh and pink and purple Chuck Taylors. Hey, I was a surfer, cut me some slack.
I had friends I imitated due to a bit of hero worship. Funny to look back at those pictures now. Always makes me wonder how I could have felt cool dressed like such a goofball.
