i'm crying too. there are many more mindy's out there. not all of them are as lucky as i am. thank you for helping your mindy. everybody needs to have the right to tell their story.
sometimes when i am watching CSI or Criminal Minds, I think "omg, how horrible, how absolutely horrible" and I know that if I knew these folks, I wouldn't be able to wrap my mind around these things. the school i graduated from when i was eighteen had lots of students who lived rough and whose lives were absolutely not a picnic in any way. and i was one of them.
you may have given her the best gift she ever got at that age. and hope. you gave her hope. dammit, i wish you would do a book so i could say "i know that guy."
I am glad to see I am not the only one this story brought tears to their eyes. I am listening to a story that is sad and it is related to Mindy in that you have a person in a circumstance and the powers that be are abusives. The people can't find any relief and things get worse and worse.
In hindsight you do understand how your effort brought a spark of light to the life of a person who at the time was living in a dark place. What it meant to them in the long term and big picture might have been one of those turning points in the life of a person, who knows..?
I hope you felt better about Mindy once you illustrated her story. That was huge.

What a sweet and sad story.
Ok. I'm crying.
And sometimes you make me think of Boris Zvorykin. He didn't really think he was so great, but he was...kinda like you. ~Mary
I hope Mindy found Happily-Ever-After doing something she loves, surrounded by people who love her. -Cin

Ohhhh... I have a really bad feeling about what happened to Mindy....
That's heartbreaking Toon-I think we all have stories like that in our pasts that we regret. I hope she grew up and live dhappily ever after!
I just want to hug that poor girl. Children should never have to live in such pain.
ohmygosh! I'm going to pretend there's a happy ending and hope someone eventually helped her. This makes me very sad.
