a conversation with 'mike'

I ended up spending New Year's Eve in a nonsmoking motel in Newton, Kansas. So because I had to smoke outside, I kept getting trapped in conversations with another smoker who called himself 'Mike'. The next morning I saw him in the lobby area carrying a plastic bag full of blood-soaked towels. His girlfriend had stabbed him in the side and he didn't want to call the cops because she was pregnant -- yet he saved all the stained towels for 'evidence'. ?? I didn't stick around for explanations, and I hope this isn't a sign of what 2011 has in store.

Holy Moly! This is one of those events that you have to say to yourself, "This is going to be a crazy story later." (and indeed it was)
