That last frame had me near hysterical. And while looking thru your Shoebox postings the other day I thought: Ok, Hallmark has a great deal in Russ because his imaginative resources are wide, & his use is agile. Almost jealous.~Mary
I loved this - camp was okay, but never like the movies. My best friend and I got into a bit of trouble at church camp for hanging out with the cowboys . . . and yes, the cabins did stink and the songs were bizarre. Hadn't thought of that in years - thanks for the walk down memory lane. ;-)
I was lucky enough to avoid summer camp other than girl scout camp. Those were only weekend end trips. Still I almost drowned in a stream when I was 12. And no one even noticed. I had to save my own damn life. Now if I had had to kiss some girl it might have been different. ;)
Hahahaa...yes, the last frame is hilarious. Really cute. I remember really liking camp but any place was better than home. I still remember the terrible songs, though. Eeesh. -Cin
We went to Church camp every year at Camp Tonganoxie .. Tonganoxie Ks. Don't remember snakes, but there were always wasps in our cabin. I remember one landed on me and I ran out of the cabin screaming with no blouse on trying to get away from it. I was horrified and sure that every boy in the 'boy' cabins a half mile away saw me. And yes, lots of songs at night. My best friend and I performed a fabulous rendition of Little Bunny Fu Fu one night for the crowd... good grief, so many memories. :-)
Christian camp was always kind of an adventure to me, both fun and boring, but I REALLY missed TV. The counselors were all horny young wanna-be hippie types, but they took it fairly seriously, and they looked out for us. Worst part: sharing a cabin with a bunch of sweaty, LOUD boys who couldn't understand why I'd rather read than play volleyball or baseball or talk about which girls were hotter. Best part: they were all SUPER nice about it (some very good-natured teasing going on)! Even better best part: One movie night, we were all amazed when "The Trouble With Tribbles" played on a movie screen! A TV show on MOVIE SCREEN?!?! We just couldn't get over it!
All the reasons that I never went away to camp was out for display in this entry. Ugh... field problems in the military were horrible and when they would end I would was everything twice and shower for an hour!
I don't want to hear your whining about summer camp. I went to Southern Baptist camp every summer, no lie. I think my experience was worse than yours! (ha ha)
i guess everyone has camp stories. none are too happy. i like how the singing guy looks like your stephen king guy in the post you did a few days after.

i didn't do camp, i didn't like kids when i was one, so going to camp would have been hellishly tortuous for me. glad i didn't miss anything.
I didn't go to camp until I was a senior citizen. It was fun but I don't think I would have liked it when I was young.
Only did camp once, but it was fun.
