Another wonderful memory! In addition to your list, I loved the distinctive smell of Woolworths (all the plastics and rubber and pets, etc.) and the creaky wood floors.

I remember buying 45s at Woolworths, too! You have a great memory. -Cin

I have told several people lately about how I got wranglers from there, and I hated, HATED them, but what can I say, my parents were poor, and it was cheap...what about Benjamin Franklin? Now there is cheap 5 & 10 place for ya...

I STILL love "Don't Bring Me Down". It was popular when my kids were in high school, and I don't know about Rachel, but my son hated it. It's amazing how many of their songs I ended up liking.
Oh, and my first job was at Woolworths, a part-time, after-school job.

They really don't make stores like that anymore. Walking into the rare one I find now brings back similar memories.

I freaking LOVE that song! Now it shall be in my head all weekend. Thanks.

I bought a parakeet once and took it home and placed it in a cage with all of the proper things. The next morning, it was stiff on the bottom of the cage.

Due to the 72 hour return policy, I put it back in the cardboard box and returned it. They said, "He's really dead?" I rattled the box a bit and said, "Um, yeah. Wanna look?"

I'm a hag. Oh, and todays captcha is imitatio.

My parakeet did learn to say a few words. I was always told to get a young male if you wanted it to learn to talk.I had 45's too. Mine were Elvis Presley's first two Sun records.

My first 45s were gifted by my Aunt Charlene. I had 9-5, Doctor My Eyes, and These Boots are Made for Walking. Ahh, memories.

when i was a teen, we had these punch cards that with a few extra bucks, i used to get jewelry. i never really wore jewelry all that much, but would give it to friends who did. but the whole process of obtaining it was something that i likened to the process of getting and using S&H green stamps...

Ours sold hot pretzels. My dad would always split a hot pretzel with me.

I had the exact same bag-o-stamps experience. I thought I had a HUGE rarity. I'm not sure how I thought that since they were plentiful on the shelf, but somehow I did.

Wow. 'Don't Bring Me Down' comes with so many memories. For some reason, 'Xanadu' comes with it.

I only ever got candy from Woolworths but was always fascinated by everything in there.
