You really have the ability to tap into a the mood and climate of what it is like to be on the fringes. Unlike a lot of other comics who are not 'of' where they speak, there is a lot of 'you' in your work.
I think that Linda Barry and Marlys is like that, too. No wonder you like her so much... you both mine from the same vein of creativity.
Maybe you are too humble to think you are her equal... but I am not you and if you aren't her equal, you are in the conversation...

I adore the comically grotesque now, but when I was younger, I was a startled fawn around these types of girls.

Those girls are so bad - I'm struggling not to analyze their insecurities.
